Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day by coming to Achatz Auditorium on Monday, January 20th at 4pm to hear our guest speaker Deacon Mel Tardy present “At Times of Challenge and Controversy: MLK and the Courage to Love Today.”

Deacon Mel comes to us from South Bend, IN where he lives with his family and serves our diocese as a permanent deacon (ordained by Bishop Kevin Rhoades in 2011) at the parish of St. Augustine in South Bend. He also works at the University of Notre Dame, where he earned his BA in in Studio Art and his MBA in International Finance, as an advisor to first-year students.

A very active member of the Catholic Church and local community, Deacon Mel has served on several Advisory Boards and even serves as a director on our own Catholic Culture and Student Life Committee of the Board! 

Another fun fact: Deacon Mel is also a jazz musician! He enjoys playing the trumpet.
