This fall, the university will celebrate the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis. In conjunction with SF homecoming weekend and the Feast of Saint Francis (Oct. 1-4), there will be a major exhibition of works devoted to the university’s patron saint. Highlights will include: a solo exhibition of paintings from Assisi, Italy by renowned plein air artist, Tom Keesee; paintings by Sister Rufinia (from the collection of the Sisters of Saint Francis of Perpetual Adoration – Mishawaka, IN), and cyanotypes using the waters of Mirror Lake by SF alumna, Erin Patton-McFarren. There will be many more works devoted to the saint on display. (Pictured: Ela Monsen (Norway, 1919-1978), Saint Francis Preaching to the Birds, textile with handmade dyes. Gift to the university by SF alumna, Hildegard Hofacker)
There will be an opening reception on Thursday, Oct. 1 from 6-8 p.m. in the Rolland Art Center.
