  \n\nThe University of Saint Francis invites the Fort Wayne community to t
 he President’s Art Gala alongside an exhibit featuring the work of artis
 t Edward Burtynsky.\n\n \n\nThe President’s Art Gala will be held on Sat
 urday\, Sept. 12\, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mimi and Ian Rolland Art and Vi
 sual Communication Center\, 1014 St. Francis Drive. The event will be prec
 eded by a 5:30 p.m. gallery talk by Saint Francis Gallery Director Justin 
 Johnson and will feature hors d’oeuvres and light refreshments. Guests w
 ill have an opportunity to meet Saint Francis President Sister Maria Gemma
  Salyer\, OSF.\n\n \n\nThe Edward Burtynsky exhibit\, “Water\,” will b
 e on display from Aug. 24 through Sept. 17 in the Rolland Center’s Weath
 erhead Gallery. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday 
 and 1 to 5 p.m. weekends. (Closed Labor Day Weekend\, Sept. 4-7.)\n\n \n\n
 In addition\, Saint Francis will host an Artist Panel Lecture at 6 p.m. on
  Sept. 10\, featuring regional artists Erin Patton McFarren\, Sarah Thomas
  and Ashley Beatty. They will present their work on how it relates to clim
 ate and the natural environment. Dr. Louise Weber\, professor of biology a
 nd environmental science\, will serve as moderator.  \n\n \n\nThe Presiden
 t’s Art Gala\, Artist Panel Lecture and Exhibition are generously sponso
 red by Franklin Electric and free to the public.\n\n \n\nBurtynsky (Canada
 \, b. 1955) is regarded as one of the world's most accomplished contempora
 ry photographers. His remarkable photographic depictions of global industr
 ial landscapes represent over 40 years of his dedication to bearing witnes
 s to the impact of human industry on the planet. Burtynsky's photographs a
 re included in the collections of over 80 major museums around the world\,
  including the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa\; the Museum of Modern
  Art\, the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, and the Guggenheim Museum in New Y
 ork\; the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid\; the Tate Modern in London\, and t
 he Los Angeles County Museum of Art in California.\n\n \n\nHe received a b
 achelor's degree in Photography/Media Studies from Toronto Metropolitan Un
 iversity (formerly Ryerson University) in 1982 and has since received both
  an Alumni Achievement Award (2004) and an Honorary Doctorate (2007) from 
 his alma mater. He is still actively involved in the university community 
 and sits on the board of directors for The Image Centre (formerly Ryerson
